About Donny Ramseur:

I was born and raised in Concord, NC. I went to NW Cabarrus High and am a graduate of UNC-Charlotte. I’ve worked in the Mortgage Industry with the same company for the last 22 years. I’m a sports Fan ( Duke Blue Devils, Oakland Raiders), an old Nascar junkie and I’m an avid golfer. I have a 9-month-old Chocolate Lab Pup named Waylon who’s full throttle just about all the time!

I’m a huge music fan. Being from the south and a young kid in the 70’s the music of Lynyrd Skynyrd, The Allman Brothers Band, Molly Hatchet, etc was just part of growing up. Also, riding in the back of my uncle ’s truck on the weekends my cousin and I were weaned on the Outlaw Country of the 70’s. Of course, I was really into the hard rock acts at that time like Aerosmith, AC/DC and Van Halen but as I got older I became more drawn to the Southern Rock and Country from that era. Over the last 15-20 years, Red Dirt Country acts have been my country of choice and anyone that knows me to know how much I love Blackberry Smoke.

I first heard of 94.7 Smoke from a friend right after the station launched. I started listening I could not believe a station would actually play this awesome music. I had been waiting for a station to combine Southern Rock, Outlaw Country and the new Southern and Red Dirt acts for a long time.  Y’all have hit a home run! The best thing about 94.7 Smoke is playing all the lesser known but awesome tracks from the artists we all love. I appreciate Program Director, DJ Stout adding lots of the tunes and acts I’ve sent him. I listen regularly and Spread the Smoke as often as possible.  And lastly, any station that plays Nantucket on a regular basis in 2018  is totally Bad Ass!!

It’s All About the South.
